A chance for real change

The Government's 'Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill' is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to really improve things for children and young people in the care system. Become, the charity for children in care and care leavers, has been busy briefing Members of Parliament (MPs), writing amendments and speaking to journalists to make sure it delivers real change for care-experienced young people. 

The five changes they want to see are:

1. Strengthening Staying Close support
2. Strengthening the Local Offer for Care Leavers
3. Extending priority need for homelessness laws for all Care Leavers
4. Providing safeguards to reduce the risk of children being moved far from home
5. Requiring a national plan for more homes in the right places
